The Auratus is a mbuna from Lake Malawi. Juveniles and females are golden with two black stripes along the body. As males mature they reverse the pattern and turn dark blue, almost black, with light stripes. These fish are about 6 cm, so they are still growing into their final colors.
It is one of the most territorial mbuna. Keep one male with several females in a tank of 200 liters or more, with plenty of rocks and hiding places, alongside other robust mbuna. Do not mix it with peaceful fish.
Hard, alkaline water (pH 7.8 to 8.6) at 24 to 27 °C. Mostly a plant eater: flakes or pellets with spirulina and little animal protein.
Price per fish. Pickup or delivery by Uber, paid separately.
